Normal visiting hours within the facility are:
Saturdays, Sundays and Holidays 8:30 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.
Members of the patient’s immediate family, 12 years of age and older, will be permitted to come for visiting. Exceptions to this require individual approval from the Chief of Security. Physical contact between patient and visitors must be kept within appropriate limits for a public setting.
Visitors may not bring food items, clothing or any other items of personal property into the facility. All items intended for an incarcerated family member, client, etc. must comply with an approved list, and must be mailed into the institution. No items will be permitted in and given to the patient at the time of a visit.
It is the patient’s responsibility to advise family or friends of the rules governing visitation and to forward to them the necessary Request for Visitation Privilege Forms which must be completed and returned to the CRCC for approval, before any visits will be allowed.
A visitor may be excluded or a visit terminated for any of the following reasons:
1. Security requirements
2. Space availability
3. Previous or current display of disruptive behavior
4. Under the influence of alcohol or drugs
5. Health problems such as bad colds, draining skin rashes, etc.
6. Refusal to submit to search
7. Not on patient’s approved visiting list
8. Possession of contraband
9. Inappropriate dress as defined by policy
10. Former patient who has been discharged within the last six (6) months.
The following procedures will apply to all visitors:
1. All visitors 18 and older must possess a picture ID card in the form of a valid driver’s
license, official identification card issued by the Highway Department, or military ID
card. Exceptions to this restriction will be made only on a “case-by-case” basis,
requiring a specific recommendation by the facility social worker or chaplain and
individual approval of the Chief of Security.
2. Visitors under the age of (18) eighteen must be accompanied by a parent or
responsible adult who is on the patient’s approved visiting list.
3. All visitors including children will be subject to search.
4. Visitors are required to leave all handbags, purses, medication, etc. in their vehicles.
Umbrellas will not be allowed. Smoking is prohibited within the facility.
5. Visitors will not be allowed to bring food, drinks, packages, etc., into the facility.
6. Visitors will only be allowed to bring $10.00 cash into the facility.
7. Visitors must comply with the dress code in order to be admitted. It will be the
responsibility of the Front Gate Officer to determine if the visitor is properly dressed.
Maintaining close contact with family is encouraged. We understand the importance of family support and will do everything reasonable to facilitate it.
Note: If your family member is a patient of South Carolina Department of Mental Health (SCDMH) located at Just Care, Inc., Columbia Regional Care Center, please contact the assigned social worker/case manager for visitation instructions.
